Share Stories of Abuse
We can recognize the abuse and bring attention to it. Every abused missionary should have the opportunity to tell their story and have it be heard. Shameful things have happened to them, but they have nothing to be ashamed about. The shame of those behaviors rightfully belongs to the perpetrator. Telling their story and getting support of others helps those who have been abused rise above it and move on. The alternative to sharing the stories of abuse include holding the abuse in and pretending that it didn't happen. I've heard from too many missionaries to continue to pretend or unsee or unhear what I know. And I want to provide a forum for every abused missionary who wants to tell their story, so that they no longer have to hold it in.
